First Things First™

First Things First™ is The JAY Group’s priority-based model for loyalty program/database development. We use this approach to ensure the most appropriate solution is achieved. The goal of this phase of database development is to provide a solid, easily-understood foundation upon which all other phases depend.

First Things First is the initial step in successful CRM development. With it, we can ensure that customer-centric planning is in place. According to CRMGuru.com’s 2002 study The Blueprint for CRM Success, “The presence of customer-centric strategies is the leading predictor of CRM success, and by a substantial margin.”

First Things First comprises three main tasks:

• Marketing Environment
  • Understanding the overall rationale, purposes, and uses of the marketing database
    • Understanding the priority business objectives and strategies
    • Review of current and planned marketing programs
    • Understanding of current customer segmentation schema
    • Ensure customer-centric marketing is in place or planned
    • Determine the most appropriate suite of marketing tools
    • Research and develop the Marketing Plan
    • Understand roles and responsibilities of all project stakeholders
• Program Assessment
  • Evaluating the feasibility for developing the envisioned solution
    • I.T. Infrastructure assessment, including hardware, software, communications, personnel
    • Marketing infrastructure assessment, including management and tactical positions
    • Information assessment, including size, scope, and availability of any pertinent data desired for marketing purposes
• Synthesis
  • Taking into account information from the above tasks, provide a recommended solution
    • Envisioned program structure
    • Prioritized data source list
    • Hardware, software, and communications
    • Personnel and support
    • Estimated logical data model
